    These are inspections that must be carried out at least once a year in accordance with the Elevator Operation, Maintenance and Periodic Control Regulation. The purpose of the Elevator Maintenance and Operation Regulation is to determine the rules to be followed for the operation, maintenance, and annual inspections of elevators used for transporting people and/or goods after they are put into service, in order to ensure that they are used in a way that does not threaten the health and safety of people, living beings, and the environment.

    How can periodic inspection/examination of elevators be arranged?

    You can have your elevators undergo periodic inspection/examination by applying to the Type A inspection body authorized by the municipality to which you are affiliated.

    Is it mandatory to have periodic inspection/examination for elevators?

    Having periodic inspection/examination of elevators is mandatory in accordance with the law dated 18.11.2008 and numbered 27058. These inspections are designed directly to protect the life and property safety of elevator users.

    What happens if periodic inspection/examination of elevators is not carried out?

    Building managements that do not have periodic inspection/examination of their elevators performed are reported to the municipality by the authorized Type A inspection body in their region, and the elevator is sealed and taken out of service.

    Who performs the periodic inspection/examination of elevators?

    Periodic inspections of elevators are carried out by personnel who have completed higher education in the relevant field (e.g., mechanical engineers, electrical-electronics engineers, mechatronics engineers) and who have successfully completed detailed theoretical and practical training on elevator periodic inspections.

    Who is responsible for having periodic inspection/examination carried out for elevators?

    The person(s) responsible for the periodic inspection of the elevator in your building are the building supervisor, building manager, or the building management company.

    How often should periodic inspection/examination of elevators be carried out?

    In accordance with the Elevator Maintenance and Operation Regulation, inspections must be carried out at the end of the first year following the commissioning of the elevator and thereafter at least once a year.
